Santa was on his sleigh around the streets of Shepperton and Sunbury during late Nopvember and December! Shepperton and Sunbury Rotary Club and Shepperton Aurora Rotary Club were joined by five local charities, St. Saviour’s Foodbank, CAMEO, Purple Angels, Spelthorne Homestart and Littleton Phabsail. In addition, the two Rotary Clubs collected for charities at Tesco and M&S at Sunbury Cross, as well as Longacres and Notcutts garden centres. We were delighted to raise a total of over £7,300 for the five local charities as well as our own Rotary Club charities. Thank you so much for everyone that donated!

Charity Wine Tasting 24th November 2023
Held in Shepperton Village Hall, our theme was‘Call My Wine Bluff!’ After a lively glass of fizz we tasted eight white and red wines in pairs followed by a generous buffet of sandwiches and savoury snacks. Our wine gurus Bill, Richard and Graham provided descriptions of the wines but only one of them was telling the truth. The 55 attendees had lots of fun trying to guess who was bluffing!
The wines were selected from Morrisons award-winning ‘The Best’ range and we pick the best of The Best! There also also a raffle with wine prizes including a magnum of Cotes du Rhone and several bottles of port. Our club raised over £1000 from the event. All profits will go to good causes, including local charity White Lodge and our Rotary dictionary scheme for local primary school pupils.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our Deadline Auction: Oct. 2023
Our ‘Deadline Auction’ was held on Saturday 14th October in Shepperton’s Jubilee Church in Manygate Lane. Starting at 2.30pm, the room was full of items that had been donated to raise funds for charities, from cups, bowls and candlesticks to bikes and a rowing machine! We had a busy afternoon with potential purchasers filling in bidding slips for item of interest. At 4.00pm, the appointed deadline time, the bell rang, and the highest bidders won their auction items. We had several local charities taking part, each with a stall with their auction gifts and other goodies. The tea, coffee and cake stall provided a welcome break and sustenance for the busy punters. We were delighted that the event made over £800 for charities, with over half of this going to Spelthorne Dementia Support, our local ‘Purple Angels’ charity.
Shepperton Village Fair: June 2023
Shepperton Village Fair took place on the 10th of June and as usual Rotary was there in force. Together with Shepperton Aurora Club, we had a very busy day in the bright sunshine. Our ‘Rotary Village’ hosted eight charities this year, including Homestart, Jacqueline’s Garden, Jubilee Foodbank, Littleton Phabsail, Lourdes Group, Paxmead Riverside Base, Purple Angels, Shepperton Village Conservation Group, and Thames Sailability. In addition, our two clubs provided stalls with fun games and information, as well as our popular children’s Hogwartz rollercoaster ride! See more on our community webpage.

Waterways of Shepperton Charity Walk: May 2023
